CHANGING LIVES SINCE 1999

MALTA's continuing mission is to reach people experiencing homelessness living outdoors or in shelters in Southeastern Connecticut, as well as through other area charitable organizations. Volunteer-based, this outreach operates 52 weeks a year.

Our mission is to help people retain or regain a sense of dignity and hope, while helping them navigate difficult circumstances. While we address immediate needs beginning with food, clothing and love, MALTA also assists connecting people to additional resources available in the community. These connections affect the whole person and produce better outcomes.

Outreach

Volunteers holding hands and praying with community members who are homeless

Malta teams go out into camps and shelters at set times weekly. We offer hot food, sandwich packs, nutritious snacks, beverages and more. Additionally, we supply basic toiletry items, clothing - including brand-new socks and underwear, tops, bottoms, shoes, jackets, hats & gloves (seasonally). The population of people we serve who are homeless consists of relatively equal numbers of men and women.

Bridging the Gap

In addition to meeting immediate needs of food, clothing, toiletries, and other essentials, Malta seeks to be a bridge where there are gaps in services offered to people facing or experiencing homelessness in New London County.
